5 c watermelon juice
5 c green tea (we used Rishi Jade Cloud)
2/3 Cocchi Americano
1 bottle wine (Sauvignon Blanc or any floral white wine)
1 tsp himalayan pink sea salt
1 c water
½ simple syrup
garnish: 1 c soda
Serves a few swervers all night.
Steep 5 tb green tea in 5 cups of water for 10 minutes, then strain and let cool. If it’s slightly bitter, that’s ok. Blend or juice the flesh of half of a medium seedless watermelon and strain. Save 5 cups. In a larger container, combine all ingredients (except simple syrup and soda) and stir. Slowly add the simple syrup to taste- if your wine of choice is sweeter, adjustments can be made at this point. Pour over ice in a punch bowl, and add soda just before serving.
Yeah, we know what urban dictionary says about drinking watermelon but... drink your watermelon! It has more lycopene than tomatoes, it’s rich in Vitamin C and A, lowers blood pressure and it relieves sore muscles. You’ve probably noticed that straight watermelon juice isn’t as “watermelon-y” as you’d like, due to the fact that it is 91% water. This concoction deconstructs it and puts it back together- it’s a reimagined idea of watermelon plucked fresh off the vine in a mineral-rich terrain, still leafy and floral. Low in alcohol content, it also has energizing and antioxidizing green tea so you can swerve all night.
