¾ oz freshly juiced ginger juice*
¾ oz freshly juiced fennel juice*
¾ oz freshly juiced green apple*
¾ oz Herbsaint
*You will need a juicer to prepare these shots, we use the Breville Juice Fountain. We found that 2 medium ginger root (approx 4”), peeled, yields up to 4 oz juice, half of a fennel bulb juiced with its fronds yields up to 5-6 oz juice, and one tart, green apple yields up to 6 oz juice.
To make Castor: In one shot glass, mix fresh ginger juice with fresh fennel juice.
To make Pollux: In the second shot glass, mix Herbsaint and fresh green apple juice.
Line ‘em up. Shoot Castor, then shoot Pollux.
Castor and Pollux, the mythological twins who comprise the constellation Gemini, were the inspiration for this mind-blowing experience. In past chapters, we’ve explored the medicinal qualities of some of our cocktails, but these twin shots are some next-level shit. Your body will thank you as your brain explodes.
The taste of fennel in the first shot is echoed by the anise flavor of Herbsaint in the second; ginger erupts into a spicy kick that is then tempered by tart apple. The lingering burn and intense freshness delivers a mind-expanding, psychedelic experience…
Ginger is an aphrodisiac, and has been used for thousands of years to cure a myriad of digestive, immune, and inflammatory symptoms. Fennel drugs you with feel-good endorphins. Downing Castor primes you for the potent botanical blend in Pollux.
Basically, we’re all “Wait, what is happening? THIS IS WEIRD AND WE FEEL CRAZY AWESOME.”
